warn(prisma-client) This is the 10th instance of Prisma Client being started. Make sure this is intentional.
Cause
dev hot reload re-evaluates the module that calls new PrismaClient(), so every reload starts one more client with its own connection pool.
Fix
// lib/prisma.ts: one client, kept on globalThis outside production-export const prisma = new PrismaClient()+const globalForPrisma = globalThis as unknown as { prisma?: PrismaClient }+export const prisma = globalForPrisma.prisma ?? new PrismaClient()+if (process.env.NODE_ENV !== 'production') globalForPrisma.prisma = prisma// import { prisma } from this module everywhere instead of calling new PrismaClient() per fileDon’t try
call prisma.$disconnect() after every request — each reload still constructs a new client; per-request disconnects only add connection churn.
raise connection_limit in DATABASE_URL — every client opens its own pool, so a higher limit only postpones exhausting the database's connections.
