ERROR: failed to solve: failed to read dockerfile: failed to create temp dir: mkdir /var/lib/docker/tmp/buildkit-mount<n>: no space left on device
Cause
Docker's data disk (/var/lib/docker, or the Docker Desktop VM disk) is full, mostly of build cache and unused images, so BuildKit cannot create its temp dir.
Fix
docker system df # Build Cache / Images RECLAIMABLE: where the space wentdocker builder prune --all # drop all unused build cache; it is rebuilt on demanddocker image prune -a # remove images no container uses (re-pullable)Don’t try
docker build --no-cache — writes every layer again and frees nothing.
docker system prune --volumes — also deletes unused anonymous volumes, which can hold database data; builder prune frees the cache without touching data.
